The Development Advisor (DA; formerly the Career Assistance Advisor) acts as the principal advisor to Commanders and supervisors on retention issues. The DA program is designed to assist supervisors when talking to subordinates about the benefits of an Air Force career. The DA assists Commanders and supervisors in career counseling and conducts advertising and publicity programs. The DA also advises separating enlisted personnel on Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard program benefits and opportunities, advises on career progression and planning, monitors mandatory pay and benefits briefing programs, manages Air Force retention programs, and provides reports and statistics to help Commanders assess retention trends. Enlisted enhancement courses are conducted for SNCOs, NCOs, and Airman and Right Decision briefings for first and second-term Airmen.
